Description

EDIT 6/4/10
I made a last minute change to my entry. I didn't think it was obvious what he was nervous about, so I added the passing robe of the Red Queen to the left and changed the direction of his gaze. I also added some beads of sweat to complete the picture. Wish me luck!

My big entry to the "Picture Yourself In Wonderland" Contest. I absolutely loved the movie, and I think the character I most identified with was the Frog footman.
Indeed, pretty much the only thing I got in trouble for in my youth was raiding the pantry. Truffles, especially the ones with caramel, always held a special place in my stomach's heart, and the temptation of snatching one when my parents left the room was often too much to resist.
Of course, as soon as they returned they found out what I had done. I always denied it even though the evidence of my guilt was literally written all over the front of my shirt, on the corners of my mouth, and in the bits of foil on the floor.

Wish me luck! Created entirely in Photoshop CS2 with the movie as my reference.

Some crit:
Contests judges like flashy not subtle, if you can't grab em with a thumbnail they probably won't look at it in detail >_< Sad but true. However doesn't mean you can't do subtle and flashy at the same time. Best paintings work on many levels.
The frog face is VERY nicely painted but the composition is a bit static (doesn't create interest or movement). Also try to avoid using smudge tool too much. It really only does look like smudge tool and almost nothing else O_o
Also if you character is the focal point try to make him standout more. Atm drapery and window compete with frg for attention too much.
Aaaaallllsssoooo try to be consistent with the way you paint instead of coloring different parts in different way. What I mean is frog's clothing got that thick black outline which is alright but little else got that same outline O_O. What happens is that your painting starts to fall apart into separate paintings which interferes with looking at it as a whole. (if that makes sense)
